Balancing Power Grids with Bitcoin Mining

In an effort to maintain the correct frequency of power grids, grid operators have traditionally balanced energy production to align with user demand, a process known as “load following.” Historically, this involved adjusting energy production levels. However, a new approach has emerged: Bitcoin miners can now rapidly modify their power consumption during periods of fluctuating electricity demand. This provides grid operators with an additional real-time tool to help balance the grid more effectively.
