AI Poison Tool Paused Amid Rising Demand
In light of increasing demand and sophisticated AI tools bypassing its protections, the popular “AI poison” tool, Glaze Project, has temporarily paused its services. The project, which guards user content from web crawlers, is rethinking its approach to handle over 200 daily requests from platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. This pause follows new terms of service from Facebook and Instagram that allow data collection for AI training by Meta. The tool, developed by University of Chicago researchers, aims to protect artists and users from AI theft. Alternatives for safeguarding content include adding distorted layers to images, which can be done using common graphic editing software.
