France Leads in Global Digital Engagement

France Leads Gen Z Digital Engagement

In the recently released PYMNTS Intelligence report, “How the World Does Digital,” France ranks seventh, with its Gen Z segment showing the highest digital engagement globally. French Gen Z users engage in about 15.5 digital activities per day, leading to 464.8 activity days per month. Despite this, France shows moderate overall digital engagement outside Gen Z, with high participation in video streaming, social media, and mobile gaming.
The report, which surveyed 67,000 consumers across 11 countries, highlights Brazil’s leadership in digital adoption and underscores the need for inclusive digital growth to bridge the global digital divide. France, as one of Europe’s leading digital economies, has a robust digital infrastructure, with most residents having access to high-speed internet and mobile networks.
Key findings reveal that France’s top digital activities include passive social media, video streaming, and mobile gaming. Millennials follow Gen Z in digital activity, with a noticeable drop-off among older generations.
France is actively working towards the EU’s 2030 digital transformation goals, focusing on bolstering digital infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity, and training its workforce in digital literacy. Significant advancements are being made in AI and other technologies to drive economic growth and innovation.
A notable development at the Choose France 2024 Summit was Microsoft’s announcement of a 4 billion euro investment to boost France’s digital skills and AI development, aiming to train 1 million people and support 2,500 startups by 2027. This investment is expected to create jobs and position France as a leader in AI technology.
