Apple Unveils iOS 18 with Exciting AI Features
At this year’s WWDC, Apple unveiled a variety of new features for iOS 18, with a special focus on how its high-end devices will leverage AI technology. Among the most anticipated features is the introduction of built-in call recording, a function long-desired by many users. Previously, iPhone users had to depend on third-party applications, often involving complicated steps and subscriptions, to record phone calls. With the advent of iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence, this is set to change.
The new call recording feature will be available on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, accessible directly from the Phone app’s call menu. A notable aspect of this feature is that it alerts all participants when the recording starts, ensuring transparency. In addition to recording, the feature also automatically generates a transcript of the call, offering users dual methods to review their conversations. Both the recordings and transcriptions are stored locally on the device, eliminating the need for additional apps or concerns about security.
However, this feature is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and future AI-compatible models due to the AI integration required for transcription, leaving users with regular iPhone 15 or older models without access. At launch, the transcription service will support eight languages, with the possibility of more being added later.
Although the first beta of iOS 18 is currently available for testing, it does not include the AI-driven features, which are expected to roll out this fall. Users interested in trying out the new live call recording and transcription services will need to wait until later this summer for access.
