Aman Khan to Represent Pondicherry in 2024-25 Season
Aman Khan Leaves Mumbai for Pondicherry in 2024-25 Domestic Season
In a significant move, Mumbai allrounder Aman Khan, known for his T20 prowess, has decided to leave Mumbai and will represent Pondicherry as a professional player in the 2024-25 domestic cricket season. Khan, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022 and Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, obtained a No-Objection Certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association to make the switch.
The 27-year-old right-arm medium pacer and hard-hitting batsman was initially acquired by KKR for Rs 20 lakh in the 2022 IPL auction. He was later traded to Delhi Capitals for Shardul Thakur before the 2023 season. Despite high expectations, Khan managed just 110 runs in 11 matches for DC and was released thereafter.
Khan has modest domestic records, having played 6 List A matches and 25 T20s, but is expected to play in all formats for Pondicherry. He will join other Mumbai players like Abhishek Nayar, Sagar Udeshi, Sagar Trivedi, and Sidak Singh who have previously switched to Pondicherry.
P Damodaran, former secretary of the Cricket Association of Pondicherry, expressed optimism about the move, highlighting Mumbai’s strong cricketing culture and its potential to benefit Pondicherry’s budding cricketers. Alongside Khan, former Madhya Pradesh spinner Ankit Sharma and Arun Kartik are also set to join Pondicherry as professional players for the upcoming season.
