Easing Medicare Access to Advanced Cardiac Care
A new proposal, if approved, could significantly streamline the process for Medicare patients with acute chest pain and no previous history of cardiovascular disease to receive treatment using advanced technologies. John Farquhar, CEO of HeartFlow, expressed enthusiasm about the proposal, emphasizing its importance in managing cardiovascular disease by accurately quantifying plaque. The proposal has received preliminary support from Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), highlighting the clinical value of Plaque Analysis, a technology developed by HeartFlow, in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases. Cara Santillo, senior vice president of market access and reimbursement at HeartFlow, also expressed confidence in the Plaque Analysis meeting Medicare’s stringent standards, emphasizing the importance of ensuring equitable access to critical treatment insights for all patients, regardless of their background.
