Singapore Leads in Workplace AI Adoption

In a recent survey commissioned by UiPath, it was revealed that 60% of workers in Singapore are using generative AI (Gen AI) at work, a global high alongside Hong Kong. Amidst economic uncertainties and increasing workloads, 30% of Singaporean employees report feeling extremely or very burnt out. To alleviate this, workers are seeking reduced workloads, more time to complete tasks, and access to AI and automation tools.
Gen AI is seen as a solution to burnout, with 62% of users reporting time savings on work-related tasks, allowing for more creative work, family time, and earlier workday endings. Despite most workers not using Gen AI and business automation together, those who do report significant productivity gains and better work-life balance.
Trust in Gen AI tools is generally high among Singaporean workers, with 58% believing these tools can drive business value. However, concerns about security, accuracy, and compliance persist. Additionally, 42% of employees lack company guidance on using Gen AI.
Younger generations, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, are more likely to use Gen AI and report greater time-saving benefits compared to older generations. Across all age groups, Gen AI tools have improved productivity by assisting with tasks like drafting communications, summarizing content, and brainstorming.
Jess O’Reilly, Area Vice President, Asia at UiPath, emphasized the importance of widespread adoption of Gen AI and business automation to maintain Singapore’s competitive edge in the digital economy. Initiatives to bridge skill gaps and foster AI trust are crucial for embracing digital transformation.
